two ways...
1) get a clutch hub holding tool...or make one. I took two pieces of flat stock bent little tpas on them and ground them down till they fit in the grooves. Then drill a hole in them and bolted them together. It works extremely poor, but worked when I need it.
2) not what I do is take a steel and a fiber plate and bolt them together. then i put a rag between the drive gear off the crank and the big basket gear and just tighten away. Having the plates bolted together esetially locks the clutch up.
actually sidewinder claims to not sponsor any one. Their chains and sprockets are really tough Ive had thier cheapest combp on a warrior for 4 years now and have only adjusted the chain once. Ive ran the cheap primary drive sprockets and worn them out in a very short time. Im trying the pricier primary drive now, chromoly front, stainless rear...and they seem to be holding pretty good. I use RK X rings and they seem to hold good too. So Id say its about even. Get a good set and have it for a long time or get a few cheap sets..
You guys really should try the tractor oil like holyman says. I get the $8 2 gallon jug from walmart. It lasts LONGER than $7 a quart 85w golden spectro tranny oil and shifts as smooth as ATF, I pulled my clutch to do somework this summer and everything inside had a thick coating of oil on it. Its slicker than snot and just about as sticky. Expensive is not always better.
Ive broken a degree key...ive never broken a timing plate. well actually i did..i busted a screw off in my ricky stator one because they didnt tap the holes all the way through. Ive got a modded stock plate now.
ATF type F is good stuff, shifts smooth, cheap, but needs to be changed often.....tractor tranny oil is awsome, shifyt just as slick, is just as cheap and last twice as long...go with the tractor oil
get a good boot you will be much happier. I got a set of ARCs when i was poor and they were horrible. I had the ATV sole and had to cut off two rows of lugs to give my foot enough room to move on the peg. My bro got a pair of tech 6s and I got a set very soon after wearing his....
Id gear it up. It will help tame it down on the trails. Too low gearing and it just revs out too fast and seems peaky and burns up the tires. A taller gear softens the power and lets it pull longer, and hookup better too. You just heave to use the cluch more, with is good becasue you can control the power even more. Im running 15/38 its great for woods, I can keep it in 1st and just work the clutch on most trails.
When you get the bigger carbs its going to have alot more low end too. I could believe the difference between 33PWKs and 28TMs
a good ol rodent blast is good fun! rabbits are a dime a dozen and its not like something isnt going to eat it...made a cyotees (that cant be spelled righ,t it looks crazy) day i bet. You should have staked it out at night and blasted the cyotee too
