278 Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Okay so I'm buliding a shee to spank the 450's at the track. However Im on a budget so its a winter project, im doing some cosmetic work, but as far as performanse I'm going with an aggressive trial port from a local shop, Wiseco pro-lites, 20cc dome NOSS head, +4 Timing, T-5's, I'm modifying the airbox, clutch kit, and a few other cheap home built mods such as putting it on a diet. Just wanted to make sure this will spank most 450's out there and maybe get a couple more ideas on extra power without tearing the motor apart so what do you guys think? Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 if you wanna save mill your head and mod your stock timing plate. Also lighten your flywheel. Quote
dragbanshee Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 You have the right machine to do it, may depend on what type of track. Quote

LiftdT4R Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 What kind of track are you talking about? An MX track is going to be really tough, probably not going to happen on a tiht budget. Quote
OKCterror Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 i think you can pull it off. Keep us posted with pics Quote
shanYE west Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 What kind of track are you talking about? An MX track is going to be really tough, probably not going to happen on a tiht budget. Kinda what I was thinking.. the suspension upgrades alone to compete with the 450's is gonna be $$$$. Quote
onebanshee Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Yeah, i really dont see this happening, its kinda like trying to get a top-fuel dragster to compete with a Nascar on the oval. Just wont happen. The new 450's will smoke you on a track, unless you do suspension mods. Don't worry about the power as much right now, put your money into suspension, steering, etc... Even if you just put pipes on it, the power will be there for the track, but the handling will take $$$$$$$$$ ONE Quote
278 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 Yeah I have all winter, I dont actually race, but most the guys at the track I see on the trails so it'll mostly be trails. I am planning on doing suspension mods, but I am not going to buy all the parts I love fabricating stuff and it's cheaper so I am doing suspension mods, but how do you guys think I should set it up Im using stock length swinger upgraded shocks and what should I do with the a-arms and rest of the suspension and handling?
