fitz18 Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Yo guys, was out on my shee there last week and she completely blew up on the left cylinder. crank rod broke and busted through the front of the case (As we say in ireland she threw a leg outta bed!!!). Im on holiday now but will post up pics when I get home. My question is do you's think it is safe enough to buy a crank shaft off ebay? Also just before the bike blew up it was standing straight up on its back axle in a trench (kinda lost control!!! ). Do you's think this culd have caused it to blow? like would the coolant of run out of that cylinder a little or anything? Also any things you's think i should do to improve my bike now is welcome. Cheers Gerard Quote

Cheers Gerard standing like that it could have caused it to run lean if you were like that while running. there are many things that could have casued it. only real way to tell is tear it down and see whats there. fitz18 Posted July 29, 2008 Author Report Posted July 29, 2008 DAMN ive seen that before thats for sure, so you gonna buy some cases and fix it? or what are your plans? Yeah man. Defo gona rebuild. Cant wait to get back on it. Need to pick up a set of cases and a crank. Do you's think its safe enough to get a crank off ebay and put it in or would i need to get it trued and welded? I cant wait to get stuck into it and get a look at the jugs and pistons. Any ideas what could have caused it to blow up so bad? Is it a sign of being lean? Any ideas what else I could do when Ive got it stripped down? Cheers Quote

Cheers the piston could have locked up, rod just broke for the bazillion RPM these things run. and a crank of ebay isnt bad if you make sure you get them saying it spins free and nothing bent or things like that incase it is you can get your money back, you can get HOT RODS for about as much as a stock one. but if the crank isnt bad you can just get rods and have it rebuilt. the only for sure way to know what went wrong is to take off the jugs and look.
