What's everybodys ways of breaking in there shee? I know yall don't just hop on the bike after a full 10mill rebuild and put it in super high get it mode.

Wanna hear about the overrides as well.

My husbands bike isnt a 10 mil :ermm: its a 4 mil and the guy that is helping him with his build said that he will need to break it slowly.. He said to start it up and ride it up and down the street for a hour or so and then come back and let it cool down all the way. Then after it is totally cooled do it again or you can do it the next day. He was just saying do that for like that 5 hours (not in the same day) or so. Thats just what I over heard. I believe he was saying something about not to let it idle too long as well... I can get more specfics next time we go over there to work on it.

i follow the manual.. never had a problem with a topend that "i" broke in by doing this....break it in how you want to though that way if it pops ya got no body to blame but maybe an over eager thumb

my drag bikes usually got broken in on the track.

i usually just start them, ride around slowly for a bit.check for leaks. retorque the head. then i ride it like i stole it.

I don't know if the break-ins on the big builds are any different than a stocker, but I just followed the manual procedure except the hours part. Kept it three quarters throttle or under and varied the rpm's for About four or five tanks and then let'er rip. (of course with the ocasional short burst of WOT!)

Yeah sounds like everybody is the same with a little twist. I've heard people start the bike and rev it up with short burst until the jugs are warm or to hot to touch shut the bike off let it cool completly down and do it again 2 more times then add coolant and ride it easy with short WOT burst and then ride it like you stole it.
