bansheejoel Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 hey guys i just got all my clutch stuff in...new oem basket, oem inner and outer clutch hubs, new oem basket bushing and new f.a.s.t clutch kit. I thought i knew how to adjust my clutch but last time i did it i fried my old clutch and dont feel like doing it again...any help to what works best would be nice....i already went by the clymer manual and that didnt work for shit either...i have a aftermarket clutch lever, could it be im not getting enough pull? thanks Quote
Animalman294 Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 First time I did it I just followed the Clymer's and it worked great. Like stated above what exactly are you having problems with............. Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 i was just looking for some other ways to adjust the clutch other than going by the manual and how much play in the clutch is correct as far as how much you can move the lever that the clutch cable is connected to....i went by the manual the first time and i thought i did it right and i f'd it up and dont feel like screwing up my new clutch. thanks Quote
Jayy Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 I am glad you asked this. I also just put in a FAST clutch and am wondering the same thing. The install went great, but my bike has an aftermarket lever and I am wondering if I dont get enough pull either. My plate is adjusted correctly, but I have run out of adjustment at the lever and the bike wants to creep when I put it in first. Quote
okbeast Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 When you adjust the lever on the top of the case make it point more to the stator side of the bike. I had the creeping problem and this fixed it. Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 ok guys i got it all together but am waiting on getting gear lube untill tommarow. Now when i push on the lever that is "supposed" to line up with the case mark i want it a little bit to the stator side correct? So as long as there is play in that lever and not tight i should be good right? Thanks Quote
okbeast Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 That's how my personal setup works best so it won't creep. That doesn't mean yours will run this way, you have to learn what your bike likes we can't answer that. Quote

Dont worry about it man if i screw it up i screw it up. Its kinda hard to learn if my shee is going to fry another clutch or not. I thought i did it correct the first time and its toast, oh well i have money growing on the trees in my front yard anyway no big deal. Quote

Take some pics, vids of what it's doing, or something and surely we can help you figure this out. What kinda oil were u running, did you have enough? What kind of riding, etc. Quote

What kind of riding, etc. dude i have no idea what the hell was going on, the clutch cover was getting so damn hot i could barly touch it after 20min of riding. That was with honda hp in it...i put it all together and put in some 10w30 and rode it around and it seems to be alright. I checked the temp of the oil and it was 130 degrees and wasnt nearly as hot as before. I dont know what the hell but all i do know is that it likes 10w30 ALOT more than honda hp. Now i need the little coolant hose that runs from the water impeller to the head. (has a hole). Has anyone ever had this happen? (the clutch getting so hot) thanks Quote
okbeast Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Ok wait a minute, so you didn't fry this clutch? You just said you put it back together and ran it? Also ur running your bike with a leaky coolant hose? Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 27, 2008 Author Report Posted April 27, 2008 i thought i screwed up my clutch but i quess its not that bad, it seems to work fine now. Yeah i was running the shee with a little leak it drips a little bit by the cover and drips out of the drain hole in the case. Quote
