shovelhead Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 well as I continue to collect my parts for the future drag build, I need to know about carriers? are all of the brand about the same? I am looking at JJ&A , but I also found a geat deal on Modquad..any advise or comments on brand to look at or to stay away from? thanks Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 jj and a and mod quad both build a really nice carrier. Just make sure you get one for a stock axle diameter if you are running a stock axle. the drag axles are bigger so the bearings in the carrier are bigger Quote

dajogejr Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Stock is 35mm... Banshee or Raptor....or newer Blasters (I think 01, 02 or 03...can't remember) Quote
kawiking Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 my buddy just put a drag axle in his stock carrier... he said they changed the bearing out and used ceramic ones. ive never heard of that before Quote
dajogejr Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 I've heard of ceramic for cranks, etc. Not for the axle, though... If it were me, and he's running a drag axle...swap out that junk stock style and replace it with a roundhouse... Quote
kawiking Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 thats what i tryed telling him... but are local shop guy .. hooked him up. whatever. local guy is also making him run 34 pjs..... he's putting them on all the 4 mil cubs he builds. thats why jeff is helping me set mine up. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 34PJs can be made to run well on smaller motors. I wouldn't put them on a cub..but stock stroke/bore motors, I would. Dan Hull swears by them....(A&S) Quote

FireHead Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 my buddy just put a drag axle in his stock carrier... he said they changed the bearing out and used ceramic ones. ive never heard of that before I'm not sure how great of an idea that is............. Ceramic roller bearings tend to be very fragile and don't have anywhere near the lifespan of a traditional bearing. :geek: Quote
kawiking Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 thats good to know.. since he's running 112 on asphalt... are local builder is the smartest, damn i hope he doesnt hurt him self. good looking out firehead. ill tell him, but im sure it wont make a diff Quote
