Just wondering about some questions, can't seem to find any of the info. im in need of. Hopefully the Guro's can help me again.

 

Well... Was wondering about Pipes on the 350cc shee engines. I dont have much knowledge about these engines, never owned one but im in Love with the 2-stroke yammies. I know Jetting is Required but what else? Anything?

 

I was going to get a set of Toomey t-5 pipes and well, im not going to buy them if i had as much hassel as i did with my Yamaha SX ViperMtn with Triple triples. I had bender Triples and i had a hard time leaving jets in it for more then a day.. I'd be re-jettting Everyday because the tempreture would flucuate.

 

I know with the summer it's not so bad because the Tempreture is pretty consistent.

 

Besdies Jetting, is there any real Mods i need to run with a successful shee with pipes? I've learned My lesson with my sled, even though the power and performance was awesome it was just a headache to be re-jetting and fixing motors time to time.

 

Oh yeah, How hard is the pipes on engines? Pistons/rings AND Fuel consumption? My Viper had POOR POOR MPG. 60-75km to a tank of gas.

The T-5's would be a good choice on a stock 350. You could get an adjustable timing plate, so you could set your timing at about 4 degrees before TDC. You will have to jet the carbs for your altitude. All of this would be fairly simple. And if you would decide to have your cylinders ported, these pipes would work pretty good with whatever mods you decide to do.

alright, Jetting isn't a problem. I wouldn't say there would be a whole lot of re-jetting in the summer time anyways.

 

hmm... This is going to be a new banshee so im really not interested in Porting the jugs at the moment. How would you go about putting in a new Timing plate and adjusting it to 4degreess?

1. RTFM... :biggrin: Seriously, though, you ought to consider downloading the free manual on this site. It will be indespensible. Most of the after-market timing platesw have instructions on how to set them up.

 

I am basically in the same boat, with a new-to-me Banshee. I had to learn how to adjust the stock carbs quickly, and it has been a fun process. They are very easy to work on (especially once you rip that TORS sh*t off...).

 

Buy the Bansheee, and have fun...

If you decide to get a timing plate, get a billet one. You will need to get a flywheel puller to intall the timing plate. The stator is bolted to a fixed timing plate from the factory. You will be getting rid of the stock timing plate to install the adjustable timing plate. The timing plate has the degree markings on it. Ebay usually has some pretty good deals on billet timing plates. Hope this helps you somewhat.
