Banshee96 Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 I know there have been a lot of posts lately on the compression/cool head topic and I did use the search button multiple times but I didn't find anything that really answered my question. I don't know a whole lot about this stuff so please bear with me. I am looking to get a cool head and I want to know if I can run +4 timing with 21cc domes on pump gas. If so is 21cc the smallest I can go (with +4 timing) and still run pump gas without detonation? My compression right now is at about 125psi at 800ft above sea level. Thanks. Quote

I ran mine on 93 @32 above sea level 21cc domes and +5 timing and 150-157psi just fine, but that is about the safest limit. Quote
Animalman294 Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 You can go down to 20cc domes and run pump gas, especially if you are at 125 on compression............ Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 the only way your going to know 100% if you can run it or not is to do a compression test with the domes in, there are so many factors you can not rely on what others have done, they can only get you a ballpark idea. Quote

Yeah I knew I would have to test the compression once the domes were in but I just wasn't sure if having a higher compression (just say 150psi) and +4 timing was still safe on pump gas. Would my best bet be to try it and if I get detonation to back the timing off a little or won't the higher compression affect my ability to advance the timing? Edited April 4, 2008 by Banshee96 Quote
