Can some of you guys tell me differences in swingarms? Like Link style vs no link?? What do I need to be looking for for a drag set-up? No link? or what? I do know I am looking for 12-14+ lenghth ..

 

any info greatly appreciated before I buy something I don't need

Sand & dirt Apprx 80-85 hp. with one lard @ss on back... I was told to start with 12-14 over, but I wasn't sure about running a link arm or no link with either struts or marvin drag rear shock?

Not sure what kind you need link or no link, but when you decide, call jeff at Havoc Performance. Amazing work, and very fast on banshee swingers.

This is what I am trying to find out... What does a No link swinger do differently tha n a standard Link sytle does? what advantage is one over the other in drag racing only trim?

 

 

Yes , Havoc does have a nice looking swinger !!

one advantage on a no link, is there is no dogbone and shit down there. Less weight for a racer.

ran a 4 over with my old dune motor making 80 hp 6 over might have been good but the 4 was more fun on the hills. 21 9 paddles.

 

12 over you better be on alky and lot of paddles

 

 

it depends on more your paddles also.

 

lot of the 421 cubs on alky with 14 paddle ext are running 12 over 100+ hp

 

 

so i think 4-6 would be ideal depending on paddle numbers.

like theshee said its less weight....a full blown dragster will usually be solid in the rear so there is no need for that link setup stuff.

Here is my plus 12 arm no link style I personally like the no link style with marvins just cause it looks way better.

Ya, you need a lot of horsepower for a 12-14 over swinger, and 80-85 horse just ain't quite there yet...........

if i am not mistaken the link is for travel and leverage on the rear shock. if you are just draggin it you shouldnt need that much rear travel. i am not sure if the stock shock will bolt up without the linkage. you may have to fab up a mount. and check to see if it will be to soft or stiff of a spring without the linkage.
