tooez Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 I'm getting ready to build my motor. Just need some info. (And yes I have read alot of post) Quad is for mx and woods. When doing a 4mill stroker do I need to have the jugs ported for it to run correctly. Will I need to change carbs from stock. Is it any advantage to have a 2 to 1 carb setup. (Other than having only one carb to adjust.) Thanks EZ Quote
gregrob Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 With a 4mil you either need to have it ported (changes the port timing so the port floor and ceilings need expanded 2mm) and run offset/cut domes for a 4mil in your head OR You need to run a spacer plate under the cylinders. First option is the best though. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 you can run a spacer plate when you install the 4mil how ever this is the least preferred method. Depending on what kind of porting and pipes your going to be running and where your trying to get your power will decide what size carbs to run and weather or not you want to run a 2 into 1 carb setup. If your going to build a lowend bike for MX then the 2 into 1 isnt a bad choice. just make sure your porting and pipes complement it. if you have any one of the three not working together your not getting the max power from your motor Quote
Animalman294 Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 If you are retaining the stock jugs, then ya, I would definately get a port job done. As far as carbs I would probably go with 33's for better flow, and I have never used the 2 into 1 setup so someone else will have to chime in on that. Quote
