i need to bore my jugs over but the local shop is out of there mind can anyone on here do it and who would you reccomend please list prices thanks-daniel

 

 

p.s. im thinking about getting them ported also .

How much is your local shop charging you? 60 bucks a cylinder is pretty common around my neck of the woods... If you get them ported then they should bore them for you when they're in there. For porting all youll hear around here is F.A.S.T. , herr, and passion.

i called the local shop and they wouldnt give me a price for porting ...i asked for the price on a bore job and the guy said after taxes about 92.00..i was like wooooooo i then said per jug? ?? and he said yeah i then said thanks have a nice day.-daniel

I get mine done for $75 a pair and chamfering of the ports. final hone. More than $50 a cylinder is on the verge of re frikindiculous

lakes motorsports, bored, honed, and sent me two pistons to match for 3 hundo.....with all gaskets, wristpins and everything...not a bad deal in my eyes...it made me feel good knowing that he had the pistons there to match it up...

i have talked to both jeff and kevin... im just going to get it bored/honed right now b/c i plan on getting new pipes soon and im a cheap a$$ and i only want to pay for the porting once , lol thanks -dan

You will save money by having them ported why its already apart. If you wait till you get pipes then you will have to do another top end when you take it apart to get ported. The porting isn't mush different from pipe to pipe unless you are making a switch from say fmf to shear oof's.

you dont have to put another top end in it, just another top end gasket kit (o ring kit too if you have a coolhead)

 

My recommendation if you dont have pipes or anything yet, would be to put the top end in, get some pipes, a cool head, some reeds/reedcages, timing plate, bigger carbs, aftermarket intake/filter system, and basically everything you need that will compliment the porting.

 

And then depending on where you ride, etc, drop in a 4mil or get your stock crank rebuilt with new bearings, true and welded, and ported.
