shovelhead Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 (edited) Guys I have been having the damnest time with my float bowls constintly stuck. I am in process of removing all the tors crap & installing new carbs. but... What is the most likely causes of float sticking?? I only had carbs off one time to re-jet for Toomey t-5's ..I was very careful & seemed to not have any problem until I went to start up( I posted this back awhile ago ) after you guys helped me figure out it was my flaot stuck I got it started & it was Ok Sat for 2 weeks now & they are stuck again..I just would ike to check them out after I take the stock carbs off to see what is wrong ?? any ideas? I know it ois something I did...just don't know what? Edited March 7, 2008 by shovelhead Quote
yamaha04 Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 could be shit in your tank. going into the carbs and jammin the floats open. clean the tank out maybe by useing air? water? then air to dry ? ummm if you knock on your bowls does it stop leaking?i would take the carbs off clean the tank. and take the foats off blow some air through them make sure there clean. and go from there? maybe its the oil you are useing? to sticky? i have no idea lol all the times mine have stuck iv either taped on them and fixed it or tore them down where the tapping doesnt work and there been junk in the float valve passage Quote

I think I will start off by draining everything & starting fresh. by the way I like your Shee! Nice colors.. Quote
fastquad02blaster Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 One of mine will stick on me once in a while. It doesn't stick wide open but it will over flow one of the vent tubes and leave a puddle on my shop floor just big enough to piss me off. I'm sure it's just junk in your tank. You should clean everything out and think about putting an inline fuel filter between your tank and carbs. I'm sure that will keep you up and running. Quote
Lepew Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 I had a bad experience with a inline filter. There should be stock filters on the fuel valve stand pipes in the tank. Inline filters can plug up with easier than the filters in the tank. Sometimes the filter in the tank will fall off and allow crap into your fuel line or crap got in your fuel line when you had everything apart. If the filter fell off in the tank cut the tube slightly shorter and push it into the valve again. Quote
