Bansh-eman Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 stick with steel, the aluminum sproket fall apart much faster then steels. I ripped the teeth off a few aluminums before I swapped to steels. Now not only do Ispend less on steels but I havent replaced one yet from breaking Quote

jbooker82 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Aluminum only really should be used on a Motorcycle. The only advantage of aluminum is they weigh less. So on a motor cycle that has a rear sprocket the size of a pizza pan they are worth it. On atvs they are smaller so weight savings is minimal. josh Quote

dajogejr Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Depends on what you're doing... I run an aluminium rear...a few hundred passes on the drag strip, 110 to 115 HP cub motor...it still looks great. What kind of riding do you plan on doing? If you're going to run mud/trails, etc. Get steel... If you're gonna drag race and ride the dunes, get aluminum...they work just fine. Steel is heavier but cheaper.... Keep in mind, with a crappy, mis adjusted or worn our chain, ANY sprockets won't last long.... Quote
shanYE west Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) I got 3 seasons on my alumium sprocket with over 70hp the first 2 and 100+ the 3rd season. Like anything else maintaince is the key to longevity. Edited February 25, 2008 by Fouledout421 Quote

dajogejr Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 In your case..then, I'd recommend steel and a good X or O ring chain as well... Good luck!! Call Jeff @ FAST. He carries bulk chain by the foot and I"m sure he can get you a great deal on what you need. Quote
