Rex789 Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 ok cool thanx for the info/help, i might just give it a try, but i dont have an impact gun... im going to buy a clymer manual right now Quote
mdhc500 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 ok cool thanx for the info/help, i might just give it a try, but i dont have an impact gun... im going to buy a clymer manual right now I wanted to jump on this thread as well rather than start a new one. With a pretty much stock 06 with FMF Fatty Pipes, Boysen Reeds, and presumably a decent K&N filter setup jetted appropriatley would there be any benefits to an adjustable timing plate? I always read people saying get a plate and go +4? What benefit will I see going +2 or +4, and will I even see any riding the trails? Thanks in advance... Quote

mdhc500 Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 go +4 you'll notice the difference! LOL Ok... But this is why I asked in the first place. I have read in a million places go +2 or +4 and you will see a difference... A difference it what? More HP, more low end, more top end, more chicks talking to me? I am just trying to learn a thing or two about setup and tuning from you guys and was hoping for more elaboration on this topic... Oh well.... Quote

More timing will give you more torque all throughout the rpm range. It sparks your air fuel mixture in the cylinder at TDC right now, when you adjust your timing it sparks before your piston gets to TDC and therefore makes your fire in the cylinder burn hotter and it pushes down on the piston harder. Thats what gives you more power. Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) You can't go wrong with +4 I think the biggest difference you'll notice is in better throttle responce and a little more snap from the low end. *note - check the air gap on the pick up also. Get it as close as you can but no less than .020" to the nodes on the flywheel. Be sure to use some blue loctite on the screws. Edited May 2, 2008 by AssWhore Quote
