anyone know the size of the center nut holding the basket/gear on?

i need to put it in gear to keep it from turning right. think i can break that nut loose with a 1/2" drive powerhandle and socket? i dont want to put an impact onto it and fuck the tranny considering jeff is gonna take it as a core on my override.

also putting it in gear won't prevent it from spinning, you have to either have one of those pin gear place holder things like in the manual, or just put a belt around it and pull the slack the opposite direction

32mm. impact gun is best.

leave it in neutral and break it loose eh? wont that quick of a snap on the internals rape something?

No it wont. An impact gun is the best tool to remove the 32mm nut. I've welded an inner and outer clutch plate together to hold the clutch in place.

thats a damn good idea, i have always just used an old belt.... how many plates did you weld together? did you just tack weld it or run a seam around it?

when i did mine, i drilled a few small pilot holes thru the plates and ran little screws in them to keep it from spinning. hit it with the impact and it popped right off.
