Okay I went for a ride yesterday to break in the new motor. I noticed that I had no power, I mean no power on the bottom side. It was breaking up really bad until I hit the powerband. So we get to the sand pit and I change my plugs because of the break in oil. Now I still have no power. I still have my stock carbs on but I added the tors eliminator kit, and K&N Intake box where I use to have the k&N pod filters. I took off the top off the box and my seat and it ran alot better but still no power on the low to mid range it has power on the top but it still breakes up on the top. This is the worse part. I noticed that the left side wasn't firing so I would rev it a little to see if I could get the left side to come online. It would start reving out of control, I would have to shut it off before it blew. I don't know what to do. Where should I start? What should my jetting be with my mods. My elevation is 328 ft.

Have you checked your second set of plugs? What do/did they look like? I would put the pods back on if they worked well before. Putting the airbox on has made it run rich. Thats why it ran a bit better when you took the lid off. That would be my best guess for a start. Make sure you dont have any air leaks that may have been missed.

I just noticed your part about the revving. Did you disassemble and clean the carbs after modding them? I wonder if there is some crap in them?

What is your pre-mix ratio. You mentioned break in oil??? You shouldn't mix it any different than normal for break in, It needs to be re-jetted for different mix ratios. If your mix is rich it will make your bike run lean and can diesel.

Wow I didn't know that. The guy that rebuilt the motor said that it needed to be rich to help seat the rings. Is that not true? It also did run alot better with the lid off, so that means that it is too rich? Okay, I will check those slides also.

Okay, my throttle cable that came with the tors eliminator kit was really stiff, so we started looking at that. took the carbs apart and cleaned them...Still stiff. Then we tried cuttin the spring...Still stiff ran like shit. Then we swaped the slides out of another parts banshee and it started and idled really high like it was about to blow. So we adjusted the idle adjustment...and she purred like a kitten. So the saga is over it runs like a bat out of hell now. My partners were all making fun of me talking bout how 2 strokes suck and should have bought a honda 450r now they are shaking. It feels so strong on stock timing, I don't know how it's going to act after I bump the timing to +4. Thanks guys for the help.
