The right wristpin bearing went and shot shrapnel through the motor. I was looking at building a 4mm stroker kit that they have listed on e-bay. I want a motor with a lot of midrange (mostly pit and trail riding). I also want to keep most parts that I have .......don't want to spend much more then 1200 in parts total Parts that are currently on bike -LRD adjustable pipes -Pro deseign cool head -Was told cylinders were ported ...definetly have been cleaned up(never had a banshee apart before not sure what stock ports look like) -Boyseem reeds and reed spavesrs Quote

jbooker82 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Dont buy a crank off of ebay. Buy it from a builder. Jeff's 4 mill long rod cranks are priced the same as on ebay. mid 400. It might be a little more but it builds relationships. Ebay isnt going to help you out in a bind. Here is what you will need. 4 mill long rod crank wiseco 795 series pistons A set of stroker domes. Ethire from Noss Machine or Fast. I believe they both come from the same place though. Noss knows domes. Send your jugs to a builder to have them ported for the 4 mill crank. It will work much better than just slapping the crank in there. Quote

kawiking Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 if u ask a builder ,u could get a wood/trail port done when they port for a 4 mill. call acouple of builders.. there is acouple of good one's on here. try F.A.S.T ,herrjugs,passion. do it right, i had my stockers drag ported by a local guy and they ran great. but wanted to put a 4 mill in. i had no clue what my port timing was. alot of builders arent going to mess with someone elses port work. so do it right the first time. tell them u want more low-mid range or whatever u are wanting,let them know what kind of riding your wanting to do. He can probably be in the same price range as that kit. It isnt really a kit from hotrods. They are just selling you everyting you need at once. Same thing jeff at fast will do. Only you will be buying from a reputable shop. How much is the kit your looking at buying? Got a LINK? Some people say 7%. I dont know what 7% feels like on a banshee. It is a very noticable gain. If your crank is shot then it is only a few bucks more to build the 4mill vs a stock stroke crank. The stroker crank moves the crank pins out 2mm than stock. So the rods have more leverage on the crank. Same principle as putting a cheater on a wrench when you have a tight bolt. You dont gain a lot of power from the extra CC's, your gain is more midrange pull. What bore size are you on or going to be on? Quote

My current bore is .75mm over but will probally go up to 1.25mm to make sure my cylinders will clean up perfect. My old motor was a long rod with a cylinder spacer What would you guys think recommend for a carb setup?. I am currently running stock carbs and want to upgrade............I think I want to move to single carb setup........maybe a 39mm PWK or any other ideas.........remember I'm not after a topend screamer Quote

jbooker82 Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I woldnt get that kit. The auction says that they are standard series pistons. You need 795 series pistons and a Noss Head with Stroker domes. Jeff can make any type of power you want. Midrange Monster to Top End Screamer. It is all in the type of Port job you choose. A 2:1 is a good choice if your wanting midrange. I dont know much abou them. Most people run a PWK 35mm carb on a 2:1. I dont know how the low end throttle responce would be with a pwk 39mm carb. If you think your motor needs a singe 39mm carb it would probably run better with dual pwk33's. Quote
