most people say 10% which i'd say if its everything is perfect.which includes cutting the head for alky.i know when i converted mine without changing the head noticed a big change.about 2 to 3 tenths in 500ft.

What would the compression need to be at for alky . right now I'm at 185psi and run strait 110 fuel? will the alky damage my reed cages and reeds. what else can be expected from Alky the good and bad? I do know that it will run cooler on alky but the jetting is more of a headache then gas.

If a guy was to run the e85 I would need to drop my comp. way down right? I am guessing I would also need to change my jets to a bigger size right?

Thanks

Ive been told alky is good for 10% increase in power. I ran it on my 10mil and it does make shit run good. easy to tune too. Stay away from e-85, it doesnt do shit for power. Put e-85 on a 770 raptor and it didnt do shit but make it hard to tune. But it is similiar to alky, you have to increase your fuel intake about 35% much like alky. Just remember E-85 is ethanol, not methanol so it doesnt make more power, it is just an alternative fuel for vehicles.

Yes...

I run 175 to 185PSI on alky all day long. You want to advance the timing as well, since it burns slower than gas.

5 degrees is a good starting point...

On a two stroke, you need to increase the fuel 200%. In other words, feed it twice as much alky as you would gas.

Although Big Red 350 runs it on his duner, he also has a MONSTER reserve tank on the back of his bike rack, too.

Unless you drag race 90% of the time, maybe dune a little the rest....it's not a good mod simply because of the amount of fuel consumption.

People think alky melts a bike, really...it doesn't. People that run alky 99 times out of 100 drag race, so...they push the envelope with timing, compression...fuel/air mixture, etc... They didn't blow up because of alky, rather they were pushing the ragged edge between performance and reliability...

Alky has a better explosion, but cools intake and exhaust better than fuel.

You will find people generally use more oil in their meth to oil mix.

Anywhere from 20:1 to 32:1...

I used to mix race gas at 40:1. I ran Benoil all last year at 28:1. I've switched to Super Techniplate now (mainly because it stays mixed better at lower temps than Benoil) and still run 28:1.

Preference, really. If I take a motor apart, I want the crank and crank bearings almost sticky with oil....

Methanol sucks moisture from the air, and if left in a motor too long, it can rust it a bit.

Some guys are religious about purging, some don't do it all season...luck of the draw.

I try to play it safe and purge after a day at the track, of...if I'm going on a dune trip, at the end of a weekend.

As far as fuel requirements, that is strictly by what the class rules state. I would think if the class is called a "gas" class, that means no alky, no nitro methane, etc....but, read the rules!!!!

I think Dave covered most of it. I just switched to methanol about 2 months ago. You will need some carbs that are setup to run meth. If its a PWK the dump tube needs to be drilled out larger to flow more fuel, you will need to drill out a main jet also, and last you will need a powerjet installed. Depending how long your runs will be you need oversize bowls at a minimum and some guys run a pump. I run my mix at 28:1 and use castor 927. I didnt pick 28:1 for any reason really, just read that most guys run a little more oil in meth than gas. I ran 32:1 on race gas. You will need to change your plugs to b9 series if you are still running NGK and most gap them at .018. Im no expert by any means. I learned most of what I know from Shayne Fouledout421 and Nate Mccoy since he is the one who set my carbs up.

I'm thinking that if I would do the switch I would buy some alky carbs what is the best way to go? what size? What brand?

If you want to know my set up it's in my sig.(The Bitch)What is purge I've herd but not really sure.
