flattrackin92 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I have been running 16cc domes with stock stroke and some porting work. I know everyone says that is way to much compression but it runs great with no problems. I am getting ready to increase the timing to about +4 degrees. Will that create more heat and be more dangerous to the engine. Should i increase timing and go to a bigger dome or increase timing and stay with 16cc domes? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 if you increas the timing and go to a smaller dowm your defeating the purpose. what is your compression? and what kind of fuel are you running. you without a dought need to be running race gas. by advancing the timing your just pushing the limits on detonation without race gas or high enough octane for that matter bepending what your compression is. with the size domes youve got advancing the timing +4 probly wont have much of an effect on the power. sheerider1026 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 i am running 19cc and +5 timing.. runs awesome. on 93 pump gas also Quote

I am running straight vp c12 for gas. would i see a better power increase by increasing size of domes and increasing timing? Quote

Bansh-eman Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 your at 200 static compression? id leave the timing alone. that compression is very high if its accurate! advancing the timine will give you more bottom end at the sacrifice of top end. but with the compression your running your bottom end should be narley already Quote
blowit Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 compresion is around 210 to 215 That compression does not scare us in the least. Over 250 is hot! If you are just rec riding, I would advance it to +4. If you want the best bottom end, push it to 6-7*. Your race fuels really need advance anyway to make better use of the fuel. No need to remove those domes. You are fine. You are also set if you port later. Brandon Quote
jcbanshee Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 if you get bigger domes your going to lose compression. So it would be stupid to trade compression for timing unless your worried about reliability of the engine... Quote
TurboBanshee420 Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Your swimming in detonation country man..... even for a 2 stroke. I bet that thing is ping'n like a vegas slot machine, just might not be able to hear it over the pipe noise. If you want to increase the timing, you should be looking at a CDI box with diff curves. Increasing the static timing of the banshee doesn't really do much for your top-end. I found this out while I was pirating ignition curves for the megasquirt map. BTW.... THANX RZBANSHEEMAN!!!! (for the ign. map) Quote
jcbanshee Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Are you running the stock crank? If so is it welded? Thats a redicilously high amount of compression...also if u get bigger domes, you will lose compression which means u will lose power. Quote
