johnny1000r Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Just wanted to say hello because i am new to the site. I joined a site like this a while back for tlrs because i needed help with fuel injection mapping on my tl1000r and they were a big help. Im sure when it comes to banshees this is the place to go. I should start with a brief discription of what i have going on first so everyone knows where im at. I bought an 87 shee on 95 frame from a guy at work and it was a total mess. I have replaced every bearing, bushing, shock, fender, new renthal bars, and pretty much every cosmetic part. Wire harness was junk got a digram off the net all rewired with neww coil and stator. I thought i was pretty much done with the project a few months ago because after i installed the tors elimination kit i sinked the cabs and it ran great. MY problem is now the pipes that were on it when it ran well were aftermarket, but were so old and shot that they needed to be replaced, and i have now idea what they are they have no stamp on them. So i added a set of toomey T5s and now i cant get it to idle at all and it is hard to start like it takes 10 to 20 kickes to get it to fire and the left cylender seems to foul plugs. So i was wondering if it would be possible that the jetting could be far enough off because of the new pipes that it wont idle, or if it was something else all together. Oh it runs rich as hell with the standard 32/1 mix. Any help getting the idle smoothed out would be much apreciated and i have no idea whats in it for jets i would guess they are stock it has stock carbs. Quote
theeechozen1 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 pull the airbox and boots off...yank the plastic and tank...this will make it easy to work the stock carbs, I recommend getting the tors eliminater kit to really take time off of tuning the stock carbs. Pull the bottoms off the carbs and make sure everything is free of junked up old gas n oil. Read the numbers on the bottom of the main jets....you should be around a 280 to start with those pipes. How is the idle? Quote
jmd0346 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 After it heats up to full temp how does it act? Will it idle then? What size pilot jet is in it? Id suggest getting rid of the airbox too. Unless you ride in water and mud Id get some pod filters with outerwears. Quote

After it warms up when i let off on the throttle it dies, almost as fast as hitting the kill switch. I have k&n filter on it cant use pods cause i do mainly trail riding and could hit some water or mud. Quote

Wildcardracing Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Pull the choke out and see if it gets better or worse, if it gets better then ur too lean worse then ur too rich. Do this at 1/4 1/2 and 3/4 trottle. Make sure your carbs are in sync (slides at same height off throttle and open at exact same time when throttle is applied). Quote
ziegman Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 make sure the slides are not in backwards and check the choke tube between the carbs Quote
