metalace2001 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 I am sending my cylinders out for a fresh bore and possibly some porting this week and i am also buying v force3 reeds, a boost bottle, and adjustable timing plate which i plan to adjust to +4, in addition to my signature, but it doesnt feel complete without some aftermarket carbs, i pretty much do trail riding with the occasional hill climb/drag, i need some advice on the right carb set up for this i am looking for low end power. Thanks in advance. Quote

TurboBanshee420 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 I know the 2-1 topic is touchy around here. I had a trinity 2-1 with a 38mm tmx..... It was easy to tune. But was way slower that having twins. I would have to say 28pwk or even 30pwk kiehins to compliment what you have done. Quote

I was looking at some 34pjs b/c it said they help more in the low to mid rpm range than the pwks, is it really that big of a difference? Quote
THE GRIM RIPPER Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Hey dude... Not for nothin but I think with the mods you have your stockies are all you need. I mean if money is a non-issue sure... But you should be able to get yourself a couple jets and dial it in nicley, especially in the trails. Just my $00.02 Good luck whatever you decide Quote
TurboBanshee420 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 good point grim! the pwk's are also called "air strikers" they have 2 more bleed holes to help prevent a lean condition while airborn.... mostly a progression into the MX related problems. I have a set of 34PJ's and they work fine. Just a bit big for my stock cyl. even with the stroker and porting. You can read what purpose each carb style serves on the kiehin or mikuni sites. google it..... Quote

sheerider1026 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 i have a trinity 2 into 1 setup with a 35mm pwk, after getting the right needle and the jetting dialed in it is a screamer, and i have a trail/play port.. it added more power everywhere, i have 2 sets of stockers sitting on the shelf, and they will be staying there for a long time.. Slides stickin huh??? I've heard about this but have never experienced it first hand... Stickin wide open you mean? Or not opening properly? Out of curiousity... Do you still have the tors system? 2004LEBanshee Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 (edited) had same problem if it sticking you have dirty carbs or a knick on you slide or you got water getting in there. Take carbs abart soak them clean them really well . then get some really fine steel wool and sand the hell out of the slides and slide walls they wolln't stick again. Oh and I wouldnt buy new carbs you have no reason to. You could benifite from 28's or 30' wouldn't go much bigger. Single never been a fan of. 33' 35' probably to big and a waste unless you plan on stroking or going bigger at a later date. To be honest stocks are fine. Its still there but it only works half the time, i looked up the slide sticking on the site and found that any moisture be it condensation or water getting in thru the air box makes the slides stick, but since i have cleaned them and changed the foam gasket on the filter to a rubber one i havent had a prob yet. RZBansheeMan Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 (edited) Your stockers are more than adequate, they are good for 60+ hp and still offer great bottom end. I personally wouldn't waste a nickel on those very expensive and silly 2:1 carb setups, you are just detuning an engine that has already been detuned by Yamaha. "Turbo" there are differences between the PWK's and the PWK AirStryker's, the PWK's have just a normal smoothe inlet to the venturi, and the AirStryker's have some lil air foil type wings that direct the incoming air over the pilots at low speed, and they also have the quad vents. jmd0346 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Keep the stockers or get the 30mm OKO for les than half the price of a 2 into 1 setup. Ive had a few buddys with a 2 into 1 and nono of them ran that great. They had alot of trouble getting them tuned in. Also DO NOT buy a boost botle. They are a gimick. Quote
