kit went together smooth and the pipes look awsome minus the very small dent that it has but i cant get it to run right.

 

First- The choke seems to pull out to far and is kind of hard to pull

 

Second- It takes 5 to 6 kicks instead of 1 or 2 to get started but stays running with choke out and no throttle " it needed throttle before to keep running"

 

Third- once choke is in it will idle fine but die when gas is applied " but will run at high rpm"

 

forth - it will drive around allright with the choke pulled out 1 notch " but not like it should"

 

what does this meen could i have busted th choke or something any help is appreciated thanks guys

maybe you need to adjust the air screws or pilot jets for more gas at idle. You prob need to re jet the mains too if you didnt

You have to re-jet everything for the new pipes. What jest are you running now and what other mods do you have?

well guys i did every thing the kit said and it told me to keep the stock mains and i was to put in 280 and needles on 4th clip. and 1.5 turns out on air screw it sounds good at idle but runs best on half choke? thats my problem oh and the dent came with it lol right out of the box. tomorrow i might pull it all apart again and see what is going on with it. would that choke tube going from carb to carb have something to do with it? thanks oh and i work crazy hours so it will be hard to get this done and the more input the better!!!!!!

yeah man i got the stock pilots 280 main and needles on forth clip and the only other mods at the moment is a boost bottle and a cool head is coming soon

yes if the choke tube is off it will run like shit.. also did u take the slides out of the carbs?? if you got the slides in the wrong carbs it will run like shit(left carb slide was put in the right carb, right carb slide was put in the left carb) you can check by looking into the back side(airbox side) of the carbs, the slides should have a notch in them.. if not they are in backwards, something simple is wrong somewhere, this thing should run like a raped ape.. let us know what u find, a lot of people post there problems but never tell us what they found wrong..

I would try bumping up the pilots to 27.5, my shee is acting like this too! 280s sounds good but i would leave the needle clip in the middle.

thanks guys hopefully i can get it apart tonight and look at it i work 15 hour days but hope fully it will be coming apart tonight thanks

well i will order the pilots tomorrow but this far north it will take a week or so oh that and there is only about 6-7 hours of sun light and i work all of them lol but i will be trying to get it apart oh and the slides are right and i only did one carb at a time. and it idles fine wit the choke in but as soon as i touch the throttle it wants to die on me as soon as i get the pilots i will change them out and try it. the thing is really loud now it sounds awsome but doesent work like it should i have to run it half choke! so the ride i got on it was only about 100 yards

i pulled it apart and everything seems fine i tried the yamaha dealer here for new pilots and all they had is 30's so where should i order them from? oh and do u think i should up the mains to a 300 while i have it apart this time? i hope this works out if it doesent next time im putting the carbs back to stock and try it and go from there. and where is the best place to get a decent aggressive woods port done thanks.

I would think your 280's should be fine but you could bump it up to a 290 cuz of the frigid temps!! But on where to get the pilots im not sure in Canada but here in the states you could order them from a place near the twin cities (where I live) and they should be able to get them to ya. They are called Bill Bune Enterprises and do all sorts of small engine work and are a mikuni carb dealer. You just have to specify your exact pilots cuz there are a few different ones with holes in different places. So I would shoot them an email or call em up and see if they'll hook you up! Otherwise you could always order it from the yami dealership if all else fails. Good luck buddy!

I seen that you want a port job, that shop i referred does porting. They trued my crank for me and did an exceptional job!
