i tore the top end apart and found some oil down in the bottom where the crank turns.. is that normal or is something wrong??? ive been told that oil isnt suppost to be in there.

A little oil is normal. That is what keeps the crank from siezing.

Excessive is not good, it either means a bad clutch side crank seal, too rich fuel/air mixture or poorly seated rings.

A little is fine...as said, two strokes don't dip in oil...they get it all from their fuel...

If its the same oil as you run in your gear box then you have a problem. If its pre-mix oil then that is good.
