wildbansheeboy Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Hope it's not junk. Here is the issue I have A Override 1-5 neutral down non-dunable and upon inspecting it I noticed that my small gear cluster that my third gear(counting all 6) from the tread side has a small chip on 1 tooth it is a little less then a 1/4 of the width of the tooth. it shifted o.k prior to inspection. can this be fixed by welding or can I replce the gear and if I replace this gear can it be replaced with a stock one or will it need to come from a override. When I look at this gear nothing looks like it been cut or modded like some of the others? Hope some of you shee freaks can help me out! Quote

wildbansheeboy Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 yes, it's a drag bike. Shifted just fine Quote
blowit Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 yes, it's a drag bike. Shifted just fine Do NOT weld on that gear!! Work hardening will likely bite you in the ass. If you try to anneal, you lose all heat treat and gear turns to mush after one ride. options are to run the gear with some grooming on the tooth or replace the gear. Personally, I would replace as if that tooth makes change, you can cost yourself more than that gear is worth in beer to fix it!! Brandon Quote
shee rips Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 its apart, so just replace it. the most expensive gear in my 125 was under $100 so this shouldnt be more than that. you will probbaly have to order it from whoever you got the override from Quote
HotCarl Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 I know this is no help but I like that blowit says not to run it because it might blow it. haha I am so lame Quote
