metalace2001 Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 (edited) what would be the proper sprocket combo for more torque and less speed, smaller front and larger rear? any suggestions. Edited December 28, 2007 by metalace2001 Quote
chillls Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 i dropped one in the front & WOW it pulled harder in the sand  if you have a built motor you wont notice the top end loss Quote
HotCarl Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 a 13 in the front helps a lot, there are 12s out there but they seem too tight of a radius for the chain to revolve around. Quote
chillls Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 some times you need to cut the chain to get the 12 to fit Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 dropping a tooth in the front will drop your top speed and make it feel like theres more power down low. expect more shifting down in the lower gears in trails and what not. 1st gear will be very low and you prolly wont use it at all. as far as sprockets check rockymountainatv.com for primary drive sprockets. they are cheap and very strong. i run them on my 10mm cub motor and they hold up fine. 91banshee Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 some times you need to cut the chain to get the 12 to fit i would never run a 12, you would be shifting all the time if a motor is to weak to pull the stock 14 drop down to the 13 after that do something about the power problem . 3fiddy Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 going to Glamis in a couple weeks , was thinking of running 14/40 set up or maybe a 14/42. my banshee dyno's 70HP. I'm running AMS sidewinders 8 paddle. Any suggestions on sprocket set up? Quote

Thats the stock ratio.. 13/38 is the same as 14/41. The bigger sprockets are actually a lil easier on the chain as well. Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 When I got it it had a 13/41 on it so i went to the 38 for more gear. Nice to know! what is the formula for gear ratio? Quote
