350BANSHEE350 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 well im getting some stiffer springs and want to know what is all involved in putting them in and if there is any spacific torq specs and do i need to take off the clutch cover? thanks Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 yup u need to drain your fluid and oil. remove your clutch cover and pull the 6 screws that hold the old springs on. pop the new ones on there and re tighten. i think they torque is like 7.7 lbs. Quote
theshee Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 you would have to pull the cover off, take the spring bolts out, take the springs out, put springs in, tighten the bolts (cant remember the torque off the top of my head, but i will get it for you), and then out the cover back on. they are located under those 6 bolts that make a circle in the outer hub. 350BANSHEE350 Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 (edited) so you just pull the clutch cover off and pull the 6 x head screws , swap out the springs tighten the x head screws to torque and put coverback on? edit should i lock tight the bolts Edited December 10, 2007 by 350BANSHEE350 Quote
Hilarious Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 so you just pull the clutch cover off and pull the 6 x head screws , swap out the springs tighten the x head screws to torque and put coverback on? edit should i lock tight the bolts Yeah, you have to drain your coolant and tranny fluid first. Take all your existing springs out, like previously said. Then put the new ones in. Trick is getting the new ones in and torquing them down evenly without shearing the bolts out in the clutch boss. Dont let what I just type scare ya. Lol is not bad. Just tighten them down a little bit at a time till you get them at the recommended torque. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 oh yea i guess i should have stated, you want to turn each bolt a little at a time and not put one all the way in then the next and the next and so on... you want to try and keep them nice and even so you dont eat the thread up, its ez u will see Quote
350BANSHEE350 Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 yeah i figured it would be the same thing as tightining down a wheel so does anybody have the torq specs for them pretty please! thanks guys btw need to change head gasket andwater impeller gasket so i well need to drain the fluid anyway and im switching to cheap ass atf oil Quote
theshee Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 check out your clutch fibers while you are in there... since you will have it apart it would be an easy time to change it if need be. ill look in the clymer today when i go to the shop to get the torques for ya. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 im pretty sure its 7.7 lbs but i dont have time to check right now i got to get going. sry Quote
