Bansh-eman Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 sand blsting wont hurt them as long as to tape off the ends. go to walmart and get some masking taper and tape off all the holes. and blast the outside of it. Quote
blowit Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) sand blsting wont hurt them as long as to tape off the ends. go to walmart and get some masking taper and tape off all the holes. and blast the outside of it. We prefer glass bead or plastic medias to a nicer finish on the cylinders but sand will not hurt the outside of the cylinders. If you prefer chemically stripping them, there are aerosols available at auto stores called aircraft stripper or something. It works well. Many times, the painted parts that get ho,t get cured enough to hold paint for dear life. You may need to squirt on laquer thinner, MPK, or MEK to get the paint soft enough to work with the stripper. Personally, I would just blast them and them finish as needed. Brandon Edited October 31, 2007 by blowit Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Might want to try a light disc sander on the cordless, I noticed acetone broke it down quick too. I gave mine a high temp coating, let's see how they hold up.. Quote
flattrakker Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 If i use stripper do i have to worry about it getting inside the domes of the head and the inside of the cylinders? Quote

RUDEDAWG Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Just did my cylinders last weekend, I used aircraft stripper-the brush-on kind, worked like a champ. I have also used the aerosol stripper which works well but the fumes are DEADLY NASTY! Quote
