well if your going to powder coat them thne you dont need to oil them up. (Assuming your going to PC right away) You will need to strip them down to PC them too. If you have a way to use a snad blaster this would be your best bet to remove the paint. But im sure theres a better way to prep the metal... this is more of a question suited for Kaotik1 i didnt realize you wanted to PC them. Are you PCing them your self or having them done?

I used airplane stripper and i had no problems no rust but i did clean them good.

 

 

Why not just let the powdercoating guy deal with stripping them?

 

It takes me about 30 minutes to prep two cylinders to have them ready to out gas, then powdercoat.

 

That way there's less down-time---and chance for rust.
