Chain Length and Gearing

Suzuki Stomper

Recommended Posts

I have a 400 stroker motor done by CT Racing and I have been unable to figure out the best set up. I am going to purchase the PWK33mm carbs but CT informs me that I will loose some bottom end, is this true? I am a 265lb guy and I am not sure what gears to run to make up for the loss if bottom end power with the larger carbs. I also need to figure out what chain length to run if I went to a 15/46 set up with a stock swing arm. Any help?

Run stock gearing...15/46 is almost the same as 14/42, stock gearing...just a hair different.

If anything, go to 15/42...with the new motor, it should pull that gearing just fine.

You'll be fine with 33PWKs on a ported stroker motor. The stroker will give you some bottom end and torque.

Are you going to raise the compression and/or advance the timing? Both of those will help restore some bottom and midrange... Bump the compression up to 145 PSI or so, and advance the timing to +4 degrees.

That should run fine on premium pump gas...and give you a kick in the seat to boot.
