I have a jeep cherokee that is all lifted fat that I installed a trans cooler on. It was very simple actually. I may be able to do that on our truck I have not looked at the transmission lines yet. On the Cherokee it was EZ.

Im thinking about a Hypertech Max Energy Programmer. The reviews say they are pretty good.

Also a K&N cold air intake and mass air flow sensor im sure wouldent hurt.

Im sure the programmer will help. I have towed an 18 foor heavy ass double axel trailer with 3 bikes 30 gallons of gas and coolers and what not and it did fine with that. Sometimes up grades out here on the way to Gordon's Well/ Glamis the transmission didn't know what gear it wanted to be in, but im sure the hypertech will solve that problem.

I made one trip with my 1500 Z71 with 3.42 gears pulling my 5,500 lbs (dry) toy hauler to glamis from tucson. I now have a 2500HD with a 6.0 and 4.10 gears. Its no Duramax, but pulls that toy hauler a hell of a lot better than the 5.3. Now i can load the trailer and put all the bikes in and not have to worry about being over my GCVWR.

Well, I did it. It actually wasn't that bad. No problems towing it. ON the way back from Gordon's Well they truck hit 2nd gear a few times for a couple minutes at 4K RPM, but I think that's normal its a frekin steep ass hill and long.

I installed a K&N full system, a Hypertech Max Power Programmer, and a Mass Air Flow Sensor. Those items combined ACTUALLY give me 50 more miles PER TANK of gas when im not towing and a hell of a lot more power it seems. Good mods IMO.

Here is the whole set up at the dez
