i ordered main jets from 330-350 so i hope i am in the right range...

ok the jets came in... i tried 340 mains...4th clip and 27.5 pilot... it did nothing but bog really bad and had no power through any of the throttle range... so i put a 330 in and moved it back to the stock needle clip...3rd clip and it runs better still lags alot beteween 3/4 to WOT.. but there is no way i can run the lid on it right now... do you think i need to go to like a 300 witht the lid on???

I had similar set up on mine except for I had a UNI filter and I ran 300 main with 27.5 pilot needle in 3rd slot and lid on no snorkel. airscrews 1.5 and it ran good. Now I have FMF fatties powercore silencer 2 uni pods and rad valves and I run 340 main 32.5 pilot needle in 3rd slot screws at 1.5 and it runs like never before. I am at sealevel high ass humidity and 85 to 95 degrees year round.

ok well here is where i am.... 290 main jet... 27.5 pilot..3rd clip... it runs really good right now where it is except for a little bog around 1/2 throttle... i remember reading that with the vforce 3 reeds alot of people have to lean the needle out to make them run right... so i am thinking about trying 2nd clip from the top... does that sound to lean for my mods or what??

When you say top, do you mean the blunt end or the pointy one? VF3s will run a little richer than stockers. One clip position leaner is a pretty common position. Have you done a plug chop yet, or are you "feeling" your way through this jetting thing?

well i started too rich and i am working my way down till it doesnt bog anymore... then once it is running right i am going to do a plug chop and see where i am... i mean towards the blunt end...

ok i stil have a mid range bog... it will go away once powerband kicks in but it is like spuddering like crazy before it gets there and it is normal up to about 1/4 throttle... i am stumped i have no more ideas... it still seems too rich..it will just about move with the air box lid on it wont hit powerband with it on so i am about to not even run the lid anymore...plugs are all wet when i pull them out.. my jetting right now is....290 mains, needle in 2nd clip from the top, 27.5 pilot..

this is the deal on what made me rejet... i bought the quad with 38mm keihin's with pod filters and no airbox.. i need to run an air box because i ride in alot of water and mud and stuff... so i put the air box in and it always ran too rich.. i traded the keihin's for a set of stockers with stock jetting... so i had no idea where to start with the jetting.. i threw them on and it ran really good with stock jetting but it always ran way better when i took the lid off even with stock jets (200 mains and 25 pilot)... so i posted everything up on here and alot of people said i am going to ruin my motor with the stock jetting... i have not done a plug chop because i have not gotten it to run smoothly.. and i would have chopped about 5,000 plugs by now if i did that everytime i tried to get the jetting right.... if anyone has any ideas please let me know this is starting to drive me crazy i havnt been able to ride for like 2 weeks now because of this stupid jetting problem.. and i have to drive an hour to buy jets aound here or order them from jetsrus and it takes a week.. i am going to pick up some new plugs today and do a chop i guess..

thanks in advance
