RUDEDAWG Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Hey all you banshee guru's, I've got a question for you. Today I was cleaning my k&n pods and noticed some oil on the bottom of the carb inlets. Am I over-oiling my pods or what? I followed the oiling instructions that k&n recommends. What gives? Quote
sredish Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 (edited) what kind of oil. smell it. you should be able to distinguish if it's filter oil or premix. if it's filter oil then it's probably just draining down some and settling and it wouldn't really surprise me. K&Ns don't really hold a lot of oil so any excess will probably run out pretty decent. Edited September 23, 2007 by sredish Quote
RUDEDAWG Posted September 23, 2007 Author Report Posted September 23, 2007 Actually, come to think about it, my stock air filter did the same thing, but I will definitely take them back off and check if it is pre-mix or filter oil. Thank you for the fast response. Quote

RUDEDAWG Posted September 24, 2007 Author Report Posted September 24, 2007 Well, I took my pods off today and smelled the oil, it smelled like gas but was exactly the same color as the premix I use- Motul. :ermm: Quote

locogato11283 Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 its probably just some fuel mix sitting there. ive noticed my carbs have that from time to time. i dont think its anything to worry about. Quote
RadarRacing Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 And a few drops of gas with oil mix always will evaporate the gas away and leave behind the oil and it kinda builds up.Same thing if you spill premix the gas goes away and the oil stays. I wouldnt worry. Quote
