Dyna Fs ignition gone bad

Ok i cant win here my bikes been through 3 stators a flywheel and 2 cdi boxes, now my brand new dyna cdi went badwtf already... Anyone ever deal with them as far as warrenty goes?? The cdi is only like 3 months old

How do you know all of these components have actually failed?

Dude, I am not a rocket scientist, but I am pretty sure you have a problem somewhere else. You would have to have the worst electrical luck that I have ever heard of. I would start looking at the harness and what not.

It kind of sounds like he has a bad ground somewhere. All of those parts are probably still good. :geek:

Thats what I was thinking. Cause, if you put on a new cdi and it allegedly goes bad after you just previously replaced one. Then how do you know you even fixed the problem with the new one you put on?

short or a bad ground. the chances of all them parts shitting the bed are almost impossible. start with a new harness.

Do you have a power coated frame by any chance? ALWAYS a good idea, paint or powder coat, to sand or file down a non-viewable area to get a good chassis ground. I've got two, one for the ignition and one for the kill, my coil wires (Nology Hot Wires) also have ground straps leading to the head....

Nope nope i had a extera cdi box layin around so i threw it on and bam started up and runs fine now... Same with all the other times, had a bad ground one and i no how frustrating that can be, but yup got a powdercoated frame and just redid the harness hehe i guess the banshee gods look down on me

Sounds like you already have your mind made up, so why did you ask us for help?

 

Guarantee you this is not a coincidence. You have something else wrong thats causig theses issues. Like an intermittent ground connection or a cross short. I bet if you send that dyna cdi back and have it tested, they will send it right back to you and tell you it works ok. Either that, or you have a short thats blowing the capacitors in the cdi's, or shorting your ignition coil circuits in your stators.

If there is any doubt on the CDI I am sure that Dynatech would be more than happy to test it for you.

You have to be quite ignorant to figure this is a coincidence. Maybe you got some bad electrons in your wires. Have you tried changing your electrons lately? :geek:
