rtracy Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 (edited) After I removed the TORS I have been haveing a problem with the throttle sticking. And it's not just now and then, it's like 4 to 5 times a ride. Yea, not good! I tried lubing the cables and it didn't do much if anything. Would anyone know whats causing this or how to fix it? I'm about ready to put the TORS back on. I like to get a little dangerous once and a while but not that kind of dangerous. Edited August 31, 2007 by rtracy Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Remove the slides and lightly sand them with fine sand paper, just enough to remove any blemishes. Also, clean and check the carbs for any debris. Check the needles and make sure they are not bent. After drilling the holes for the idle screws, did you clean the hole on the inside of the carbs? Clean everything really good, clean up the slides, check the cable again for smooth operation, and make sure the throttle housing is functioning correctly. Make sure the slide springs are seated correctly when you put the carb caps back on. Hope that helps. Quote

Be sure there is none... If you do sand the slides, use 400 grit or finer. Quote

Pull them out, clean them off, slap a little grease on the slides and re-install. That's all I did when I had problems, worked just fine. Stock carbs are bad about sticking especially if you hit a puddle of water, etc. Quote

Stock carbs are bad about sticking especially if you hit a puddle of water, etc. I was mostly reffering to any casting flaws around the bottom edges, obvious blemishes, etc. I also would not just arbitrarily sand the whole slide. RIPRuck Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Also make sure the routing of your throttle cable doesnt have any sharp bends or any obsturctions. After I removed my TORS and installed a new cable I had the same issue and it was my routing of the cable.. Quote
