mdbrute Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and new to Banshee's and had some questions regarding them. I have located a stock 99 banshee and was wondering if there is anything I should be concerned with or that is faulty with that year banshee. Also what do you feel if the best oil to run in the engine case and to mix with the gas? Thanks for all your help. Quote
JET 99 Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 welcome to the HQ  . i have a 99 also... there is no diff. other than the early models (late 80s) had j-arms instead of a-arms.. the wiring plug ends have changed a couple of times over the years. stock water pump impeller needs replaced... stock rear carrier does not have grease zerk... case saver is a good thing (esp if your case isnt broke yet)... do compression check... general stuff welcome to a new addiction... mdbrute Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 I appreciate the welcome and information. I've owned several 250R's in the past but sold them to buy a utility. You know a man can only put up with so much putting around crap, I really miss that power band and I have always loved the way the banshee sounds! Looks like I may be able to pickup the banshee for about $1,900. Is that a fair price? Thanks Quote
SoCalinIt Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Welcome to the HQ man!!! $1,900 sounds really good... But I'm out here on the west coat. A 99 Banshee will go for over $3,000 out here. I use Yamahalube 2R at 32:1 for premix... Everyone will give you different answers though. Have fun... Hope you have a lot of money... LOL Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Any good grade of pre-mix two stroke oil and wet-clutch gear oil will be just fine, similar to the 250Rs you have had in the past. If you are looking for a particular brand, I run Maxima Super M pre-mix (32:1) and Maxima MTL for the gears. You will find many opinions concerning oil mixture and brands. It is kind of like asking which beer does everyone drink! Quote

BellicoseBanshee Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 I'm a Heff guy myself... What do you drink? LOL  Back in the day, it was Sam Adams, Guiness, Heinekin, Beck's, Pete's Wicked, and others similar to that. Now, it is water, milk, juices, and the occasional splash of fuel (when I am not paying attention while gassing the pig :verymad:). Quote
