Leigh Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 i have a quick oil question.. i need to change the oil in the trany i bought 10w40 golden spectro will that work alright in there? btw i searched because i am sure this has been asked 530959456 time.. but the search thing was screwed up Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Just get a couple of quarts of ATF Type F, and that will work great. You can get two quarts at Wally World for about $4. Quote
4everwantedbanshee Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 would 80w 90 work fine.... Quote
Snopczynski Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I have ran 10w30, atf, royal purple gear oil, belray gear saver, golden spectro trans oil, and maxima mtl 75w, 80w, and 85w trans oil in my Banshee. Only one I recommend, and would use is Maxima MTL 85w endurance fluid. Other than that my trans has hit false neutrals off the bat, or the oil doesn't seem to last longer than 4 hours then it hits false neutrals. Or while running those other oils I have majorly overheated a clutch and or blown up a set of frictions. I do have to change my oil after 2 weekends of riding, but other than that it works awesome. dajogejr Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 would 80w 90 work fine.... NO...that's gear oil and it's too thick. ATF Type F, change it every few rides, or Bel Ray gearsaver 80W oil... Quote
theshee Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I use Napa 30 weight in my clutch/ tranny. I used Royal Purple syncromax before and heat set 2 clutches so I went to 30w instead. It about 1/4 the price too. Quote
Leigh Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 what does it call for in the book?? i am confused... i got like 10 different answers and they are all different things.. gear oil-atf-motor oil.. Quote

I've ran Gear Saver, and ATF Type F in my transmission. The ATF is cheaper by a lot, but you have to change it more frequently. You asked what to run, and people told you what they recommended, but if you want to go by the book, then that's fine too. Quote
