flattrakker Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 My 95 Shee is completely stock.... OK i just filled the coolant. I took it for one ride down the road, figure 1/4th mile. After that short distance it seems to be running very hot and some liquid was coming out of the radiator, it is also struggling to get coolant to the head after i shut it down. Is this normal? I havent owned it but 2 weeks. Quote

I havent owned it but 2 weeks. with the info you gave, it's hard to tell what's going on a bad head gasket or o-ring if you have a coolhead can pressurize the cooling system and force fluid out the overflow. start your bike and pull the radiator cap off. sometimes you can see air bubbles coming up a bad water pump impellar would definitely cause some overheating in 1/4 mile too Quote

Its normal for it to come out of the overflow hose, thats why they have a catch bottle stock. When the system cools off it sucks the fluid back into the radiator. Quote

How much goes in the radiator? u put the fluid in the radiator.its best to put pure radiator fluid not pure water,alot put 50/50 which works pretty good,but if u do pure water put either dish washing fluid in it or some type of additive. Snopczynski Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 I fill up my cooling system with maxima coolanol to the top in the radiator. Fill the overflow bottle to the low mark when its cold. Make sure the radiator cap is past the first detent and fully seated at the stop when you turn it to the right. Quote
