I just picked up a 2006 banshee yesterday and need to know what I should do right away on it please?..Do i put a pro design air filter mod on it asap? and I would like to get rid of the exsisting parking brake assembly and clean that up..is their any special wiring I need to do?....I think my next investment will be a set of pipes since the stockers seem quite restrictive.....also should I look into getting a different rev limiter or is the stock fine?... I do mostly desert and trail riding...not really any dune riding...oh and I already ordered some engine ice...what else can i do to get my banshee to run cooler without a huge amount of money?...appreciate any info and im sure glad this board is here i'm going to have a lot of questions :-)......

first off, welcome to the hq

yep some pipes are probably the best first mod, and an aftermarket air filter to go along with them would be a good idea too. i use a k&n.

it wouldnt be a bad idea to get rid of the parking brake either, because they dont really work anyway. im not sure whats involved as i bought my bike with the parking brake already removed.

as for the ignition, i would just leave it stock. there are many ways to get more power for cheaper.

and at this point i wouldnt worry about more cooling unless you ride in insane heat

appreciate the reply back thanks.... I do ride in some pretty high heat...today it was 105 where I was at.....but I dont ride when its that hot I let it cool down into the 90's then I go....but I can defintely feel my banshee running warm.....i'll try and find a thread on the parking brake or maybe some one knows of a link on it and can post it..... on the airbox mod i'm thinking of going with a pro design plate and then a uni air filter dual stage foam...and i'd like to run it with the lid off if possible although it does get pretty dusty where i ride.....maybe I should get an outerwear and replace the lid with that?......what other engine mods would you recommend I look into too?....i'd like to keep some dependability in my motor if at all possible....

if you want a cooler bike use this link.

http://webforce.nwrain.net/founder/cascade...TORE_DEPT_ID=91

IMPROVE YOUR COOLING SYSTEM EVEN MORE! THIS IMPELLER VASTLY IMPROVES THE FLOW OF WATER THROUGH THE COOLING SYSTEM THEREFORE DISPERSING HEAT QUICKER FOR BETTER OVER ALL PERFORMANCE!

I also seen them on ebay time to time at a much better price. (Pro Design Mega Flow) thats what you would look for on ebay under banshee

this is also a link to a New 21 Fin Cooler . its 16$ for 1. i purchased 2 and they work realy good and for the price you cant beat it. he has 5 so if you look and they are gone he will have more.

thanks for the reply back......ive heard those finned parts do little if anything to cool down the motor....have a lot of people in here had good luck with them?......I like that impeller..is it a pretty easy install?...and that plate below it on that link for the water pump looks like something I should get also to make it easy to drain the coolant no?

You shouldnt be having any cooling issues, with no mods on a new bike, even in that heat unless your muddin with it or you radiator is blocked or something. Your going to feel some heat because your legs are right behind the pipes. I agree some pipes, filter, jet kit and go from there. I like K&N also.

compression will bump low end, 4+ timing is a cheap mod, pipes and filter is usually first up grade(keep in mind if port work later get a set of pipes that will respond to port work)... aftermarket head will get you compression bump (your choice of pump or race gas) and cooling effect, billet water impeller(stock plastic junk)... hi comp = high octane and t+w crank. the port work, bigger carbs, intake, heavy duty clutch, ignition system upgrades...... it is endless as to how far you can go ......

welcome to your new money pit and the BHQ
