CadillacBanshee Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 i had my clutch changed and the guys who changed it are telling me that the manual tranny has a broken pump inside. the only thing i could find on the tranny is a slave cylinder and the master cylinder. What the heck are they talking about???? Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 There is no pump in a manual trans. The clutch slave is just like a brake caliper that moves when the clutch is pushed. Ask them what the pump is called, and what it does, and what problem it is causing. I work for GM, I can find out more once you tell me mroe. Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 They were priming the clutch cylinder/piston and the bottom of the slave made a popping sound and began to leak. The popping noise was heard and then when they removed the tranny we saw the leake at the bottom of the slave. I bought the slave but they say its the pump inside leaking out the gear oil. I called autozone and they said a pump came up in the computer, but they are never too bright there. This all started with a damn clutch job and now its a huge headache because its my work truck. Snopczynski Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 I got you rmessage but it smy bday and I was drunk as hell. As far as I know there is not a pump in a manual trans. I will call you on Saturday. Quote
joneser4u Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Sounds like you hired some shady mofo's! As far as I know all slavecylinders are gravity bleed, you poor fluid in open the bleeder on the sc and wait for fluid to run out,not like bleeding brakes no pumping or priming. And if there is a pump in the tranny thats a new one on me. slowpokebanshee Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 hey, I am a General Motors master tech of several years (more than I care to admit) what year/motor s-10? if it is anything recent 93? or newer it has a quick release tyoe system at the trans, that you can disconnect, not loseany fluid and reconnect w/out having to bleed it, if the "fellas" at the quickie tune hit the clutch pedal while it was disconnected, then they should buy you a new clutch master cylinder....there is no pump. hope this helps, if you need any more help e-mail me @ [email protected], good luck Quote
Satsol67 Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 (edited) If you would like I can look it up on AllData and take a snap shot of a blow up of the tranny. What year and model. Duh s10 p/u just like the title says. I will look it up if you would like. Ron Edited July 17, 2007 by Satsol67 Quote
