knight_ripper Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 i pretty much have the same setup as your buddys. I am running my timing plate at +4 advanced. also my main jet is an 062 and im on the second notch on the needle jet, idle screw 2 turns out. I run between sea level and 7000 ft with no jetting done. runs great at sea level....although I run 50/50 gas. Runs like sheet up at 7000ft...but I mosey along. I am however running Moose Needles. I had to switch over due to problems with the stockies. shee runs way better with the moose. I think they are tapered differently. hope that helps. not sure about your rid. I havnt steped into port and polish yet. I think the dome sizes directly affects gas tho. If I remember correctly ... if I was to go below a 21cc dome I would have had to run 50/50 all the time. go lower and your steping into 110 octane. Quote

I dont recommend over a 36mm unless you get a big bore or cub cylinders. Quote

I dont recommend over a 36mm unless you get a big bore setup or cub cylinders. The 38mm is a good size for you. If you are going to ride at any altitude, the bigger carbs help keep power up and you can absolutely tune a 38mm to grunt like a pig in heat on the bottom. Brandon Quote
dwrracing Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 yea we will see if it works good!! i am in florida so i am at sea leval and its always hot down here Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 we ran a 38mm lectron on a 4mill stroker at sea level and it had way better throttle response and power with a 36mm lectron. Quote

The performance of the 38 is very dependent on engine setup and jetting. Doing the numbers, the 38 is a better choice, especially for a stroker. Not sure why your power was falling off with the 38 but should work great. Did YOU port it? If porting is out of the bubble, you may very well have to run a smaller carb to mask port timing issues. Just a thought. Brandon Quote
