razorbackbanshee Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Hey guys I could use a little help. I'm trying to get the shee jetted right. I have found that a 280 main is perfect after looking at my plugs, I had a 300 but was too rich. However there seems to be a little lag on the bottom end. I had a stock 25 pilot so I put in 27.5 thinking this would do it, but it seems to be too rich now as it doesn't have any snap to it it just kind of bogs around. What do I need to do? I have the air screw set to what the book says ( 2 turns out). Is this too much... not enough? I have stock carbs with the TORS removed. I'm about to pull my hair out. Thanks guys Quote
wesw Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 try 1 turn out, and the 4th clip on the needle. Quote
alf44 Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 try 1 turn out, and the 4th clip on the needle. middle on clip one and a half turns out is standerd. Go from there. Where do you ride? i run 310 mains with 30 pilot in oregon with no problems Quote
razorbackbanshee Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 I ride in NW Arkansas at ~1200 feet. With the 25 pilot it runs great from 1/4 throttle to full. But it lags from idle to 1/4. I changed to a 27.5 and it seems too rich as it smokes alot and it doesn't have any pep. Should I try to adjust my needle with the 25 or the 27.5. Quote
peak-j Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I'm at about a 1000 ft, with my mods I still run the 25's and lowend is great. I also synchronized my carbs with the tool. I'd put the 25's in it and go with that. Quote
luv2rideaz Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 try looking at this.... http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html Quote
razorbackbanshee Posted July 24, 2007 Author Report Posted July 24, 2007 I found out that the local yamaha shop put my slides in backwards. I switched them and it runs great! But I still am having trouble with the idle. I currently have the 25 pilots in and adjusting the air screw doesn't seem to be helping. Quote
