ClimbAnyHill Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 How do these Pro X compare to Pro Lites?? A local shop said the X's are way better! What did you pay for them if you don't mind me asking? Thanks. Quote

Thanks. A Pro-X piston is a cast contruction piston made by Namura (not sure if that is the right name). A Pro-Lite psiton is of forged construction and made by Wiseco. Beyond that, if you do a search on the HQ on this topic, you will find more than you ever wanted to read about cast vs. forged pistons. Quote
FireHead Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Look like the expander to hold tension on bottom ring goes in groove than ring goes over it. oldschool Firehead it is like the holes drilled in the top of the piston that use comp to hold the ring out to seal the ring under load Ahh, I see. That's I guess what I was thinking of when I said the locating pin thing, but I would think that see some form of wave or spring to that ring (read not flat). I think this part of the ring scheme is out of my realm of general knowledge. I don't think I ever held a piston setup like that in my hand before. :geek: Quote
RagunCajun Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 I put a wiseco top end in my shee a month ago. It didnt come with those things. I dont have the knowledge so call them and see what it's for. Climbanyhill, put some pro lites in there after you send ya juggs to get ported :woot: Quote

For some reason I find this pretty interesting................Brad, do you know if thissomething more traditional in two stroke engines? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to the rings? Quote
RNBRAD Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 For some reason I find this pretty interesting................Brad, do you know if thissomething more traditional in two stroke engines? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to the rings? Yea it's old school. Years ago 2 strokes had problems with sticking the bottom ring, I assume mianly due to the lack of refinement in premix's where they would leave more residue when burned, causing this problem. With the quality oils we have today, probably no advantages at this point. Quote
