Hey how much better are the aluminum .125 wheels than a steel wheel? It is about $40 cheaper to get brand new ones on steel, and I will proabbly only use it 1 or 2 times this year. I am wondering if it is worth it to get the al.

yea, if your riding a 4x4 utility quad and need something durable then go with steel but if your riding a sport bike and trying to make power then go doug blues... there not durable at all but they dont wiegh jack. there the favored wheel amongs't the sand crowd cause there light and cheep and if you pay attention they will last you many years. plus if you bang em on something chances are you can pound em back in shape with a rubber mallet. you cant do that with a set of .190 rims cause they will usualy crack....

My tire guy made a really good point to me once about the whole red vs. black vs. blue label wheels. Let's say you land a jump really bad - would you rather bend the crap out of a $30 wheel or a $300 axle?

Kinda the same thing that the guys into R/C trucks do. They'll buy aluminum parts to replace all the stock plastic pieces but they'll pick one cheap and easy to replace piece of the suspension and leave that one plastic. That way in most crashes the piece that gives is the cheap-o plastic one. You can just buy a handful of 'em to leave in your toolbox for field repairs.

Get the steel, you'll be fine. The aluminum is lighter and looks nicer.

IN your other paddle post, you said you're on a tight budget....get the steel.

If your bike is the same as I remember, it's not like it's an alcohol burning, top fuel sand dragster. You're gonna bounce around Silver lake once or twice a year and have fun...

Save the money, get the steel....you'll be fine.

Steel are stronger, but they're also noticeably heavier....
