black sunshine Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 Tighten the axle nuts and loctite them! Quote
96_banshee_96 Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 If its not the axle nuts then it is the carrier bearings. They arent to bad to change. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 Remove the locknut and make sure the bearings are ok then replace tightly. You shouldn't have any play after. Quote
dante Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I used RTV sealer in in threads, no problems after. Im alittle scared of lock tight... Will lock tight help my old lady? Quote
J-Madd Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 If its not the axle nuts then it is the carrier bearings. They arent to bad to change. I have to disagree with that if the bearings are in very bad shape. I've ruined carriers trying to get the axle out when the bearings are toast. I've had some very bad luck changing the bearings. I used RTV sealer in in threads, no problems after. Im alittle scared of lock tight... Will lock tight help my old lady? RED lock tight makes it very difficult to loosen the axle nut. Mine kept coming loose, so I covered it in the red. I had a hell of a time getting it loose. I'm not sure about the blue or green. Quote
fastrthnu Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 I use red locker, but I have big channel locks  I hasnt come off though. But I can still get em off. After comming loose to many times out riding, I wasnt playing anymore. If it came loose after red locker, arc welding was next. :yelrotflmao: Quote
csrmel Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 its a bearing guys. it isnt suppose to have alot of load on it from overly tight axle nuts. just snug the axle nuts down, lock one against the other and wrap the nuts in electrical tape in the same direction the axle spins when moving fireward. thats what i did on my 06 when the nuts came loose. it only half half a tank of gas through the brand new machine and it loosen up, i wrap it up and its been tight as dantes old lady.
