350BANSHEE350 Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 what exactly do you need to do to drill them out and where are they? i dont know what to drill out and what to do after that, i want the the screws to be in super snug and tight so what is needed? picture would be very helpful Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 If my shee was here i would post you a pic, i'm sure by the time i get off work tommorow someone will already get you a pic. But there on the side of the carbs. You have to file down the hole so it's completly flat then after you file it down it's best to take the carb off and use a drill tap with some drill tap oil and install your screw. It's not that hard sorry i don't have pics for ya. Quote
shanYE west Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 The idle kit comes with the drill bit and tap thats needed. The spot where they go is already started for you. They go on the outsides of the carbs and If you look you can see a hole with threads already there but stop. Just Finish drilling through and then take the tap and run that through. I just did 4 carbs yesterday. Quote
fracas Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 I just did this same project 2 weeks ago. Make sure you use Tap Oil. If not you will break the Tap bit off in the hole. Trust me. I know. I broke it off in the carb. But I have tools and got it out. Its a Easy job. Quote

Remember, 1/2 turn in, 1/4 turn out... Take your time, alum is very soft and the threads cut very, very easy...just use common sense... Quote

350BANSHEE350 Posted June 20, 2007 Author Report Posted June 20, 2007 what does tap mean? is it the hole that comes straight out on the outside of each carb and is the biggest looking one? thanks guys Quote
theshee Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 He means tap it in 1/2 a turn then back it 1/4, the in 1/2 and back it out 1/4... that way it doesnt strip out as you are doing it... Use WD-40 and you will be fine.... You know you have to file the bosses down flat, then tap right? I filed mine down till they were between 1/2 and 3/4s of an inch long. Here is where you do it.... EDIT----oh and you asked what to tap meant... it means to use a tap and make threads that a bolt or screw will go into. if you have any more questions I will do my best to help you out...
