I need to find out if my jetting is right. I just rebuilt my 87 motor and I think I am runing a little lean by the looks of the plug chop.

 

Bored .040

stock reeds

27.5 pilot

300 main

2 into 1 K&N filter with whole box cut off so its an open filter

Older style FMF pipes

Mixing the gas at 25.1 right now for the first few tanks since the motor is fresh

 

Dont know the elevation here in michigan but im near detroit. Anybody in miching runing these pipes what jets are you useing.

Wait until you go back to your "regualr oil mix" running that much oil leans out the mixture.

more oil = less fuel

then start tuning

But as a crutch raise the needle until you finish your break in

Brownstown (where I live) is 600 ft above sea level. Most of michigan is between 500-1000ft.

 

If you ask me your insane for running 24:1. Break in isnt based on oil mixture its based on rpm range and temp.

Why would I be insane for mixing at 25:1 Its says in the manual that you can mix your gas like that. I know break in is based on rpm and shit but I have ran almost 2.5 gallons of gas through it and it runs like a raped ape. I mix my 96 banshee at 40:1 with golden spectro and again why would I be insane for mixing the first tank of gas at 25:1??? some people mix there gas at 25:1 all the time.

 

What main should I run I have asked this question like 3 times in the past couple weeks before I even had the bike runing and had no replies. Bout to say fuck it and call FMF tomorrow and ask them.

There is no reason to run that much oil. It wont make anything get lubricated any better. The oil can only do so much.

 

If your lean then knock it up to a 310.

Drain the gas and feed your weedwacker.

Refill with 40:1

then do a plug chop.

 

I have close to your mods

i run 280 main 27.5 pilot with a toomey needle with the clip in the middle.

300 should be a little fat with these pipes.

When its really cold in the dunes 280 is fat on my bike.
