DEPUTY DOG Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 This is my first post and I would like to say thanks to everyone on this site. Been a member for a couple of months and purchased some used toomeys from here and got some 280's 300's and 320 mains from jets r us. great price and fast shipping. I live at about 30 feet above sea level in SC. Only mod is weisco pistons .050 over. never messed with carbs before but picked up a clymer manual after about a week on this site. took off carbs put in 300 mains and WOW did not think would make that drastic of a difference. bike went from fun to scary, perfect. Any way my question is in 1st gear there is about a 2 to 3 second hesitation then hold on. just wondering if that was normal or if i could adjust to fix that. Oh plan on doing a plug chop sometime this week but i pulled out the plugs after riding and were a nice light tan color. any input would be greatly appreciated thanks Quote

You might have a rich or lean condition down low. Only way to be sure is to do the plug chop... Your 2 to 3 second hesitation is NOT normal. A correctly jetted banshee will be immediately snappy right off the bottom end. It wont get into the powerband until higher RPM's but the throttle response should be there as soon as you come off idle. - Jared Quote
ZillaRider02 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Sounds like you are on the right track. If you plan to stick with the stock carbs, a TORS eliminator kit and a pair of aftermarket needles will make a good investment. Also, did you remove your airbox lid (will require a Pro-Design type intake) or did you cut holes in the lid for more airflow? Good luck. Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Man toomeys are the shit, i just installed the T5s on my bike with the 280 jet kit...I'm 0 feet above sea level being i'm only 20 minutes away from the beach...lol I haven't had any problems with my bike. You still running the stock air box or do you have the double K&N kit coming off the carbs. I installed my pipes and jet kit and ran like shit cause i wasn't getting the right amount of air it needed. Quote

But yeah i have the TORS on my bike with K&N filters maby i should have put this under jetting forum but anyways i took off the lid to my box and ran a sheet metal screw threw the top corner of my stock filter plastic to hold it in place (saw someone else on here with a picture and it looked like a cheep fix) i have some clamp on filters but i didn't think i got big enough mains to run with those, anyways i still want to know about the hesitation at the start maby bigger pilot jet??? tors is still on the bike whenever it gives me a problem i will take the crap off. oh on the hesitation its moving just not what you would think it should be doing until it hits the band I think they must be the pink ones ha ha Quote
