Jhughes7 Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 I seen a guy in the dunes last night with pod filters and he wasnt running an outter wear on them. I mentioned something to him and he said it was fine and it wont hurt a thing. From what I have heard and seen thats not the case am I right here? Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 I sure is hell wouldn't run without them and im not near sand at all. Id just do it for the extra insurance if it was me. Quote
crbanshee Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 yes and no, it realy depends on a few factors, things like how clean he keeps the filter how much filter oil he uses, how much does he ride in a day things like that.. i used to have an 86 250r 3 wheeler i went out for a 7 day glamis trip and totaly forgot that i took the filter off to clean it the day before i left, so in the mad scramble of trying to get everything ready and get out the door on time i left the filter sitting in the garage. i ended up using a sock and duct tape as a filter for a week and it worked out good. no damage to the top end or carb.so yes there is potential there for major damage, but no it shouldnt hurt if you are careful Quote
Snopczynski Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 I run them cause I never have to clean the filter if I do. No sand in it! Quote
korndawg Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 You should probably be ok running the K&N in the sand without the outerwear, but I still wouldn't take a chance. It's always nice to have that little extra insurance, and outerwears much cheaper than a new top end. Quote
scooter Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 i run outerwears on mine.cheap insurance Quote
