I need to find a place to purchase one of the Mattoon (or look-a-like) rear master cylinder resvoirs that bolt straight to the rear master cylinder. Their website says it is still in the prototype stage, which is BS since a bunch of folks have them. Their phone was busy all day and I am kind of figuring they don't want my business that badly at this point. Where else can I buy one?

about 2 years ago they came out with a tiny little one that bolted right onto the rear master cylinder. They discontinued them when they had a bunch of problems. So as it said on the site, there is nothing available yet.

Yeah, that is the thing I am looking for. Quite a few people have them, so either someone else is making them or Mattoon's website is incorrect.

Look on ebay for a rear master cylinder for a dirtbike. they all have the resevoir built right onto the cylinder. I know some of the yamaha dirtbikes use the ones just like you are looking for, and would probably bolt up for you as well... Here's one off a honda...

DEo you have any idea what bike the master cylinder that bolts up to the Banshee mount is from? :thanks:

I have a crf one polished with a bracket for a banshee frame that I couldn't get to work right I think the honda ones dont have the psi the yamaha's do. You are looking for a WR450 master cylinder but it won't bolt right up you will need to make a bracket. I just bought on but have hooked it up yet.

Is there not one that will bolt up at all? Do they all need adapter brackets? I really didn't want to have to make something myself for this part.

It is easy to make a bracket but it won't sit the way it was intended but should work fine I would make you one if you want

Can you post a picture of what you have come up with? I am not scared of making the bracket to adapt the master cylinder to my frame, my objection to doing it is that I would then be adding the weight of two fasteners and a bracket to the bike, which I know isn't much, but I spoose it's the principle of the whole thing.

I don't have it in front of me I will have to dig out the crf one but the wr would be a little different. I am all about weight trust me I know. My lightened stock frame shee weighs 262 pounds wet and you can't get there if you don't worry about ozs. I just made it out of alum. plate its not to heavy I would say it ends up being a wash after you lose the big res., hose, and tabs. It just looks cleaner
