RoostRocket Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 is it a growling grinding noise because my flywheel came loose and made funny noises right after my rebuild. and i threw some loctite onn and impacted it on and so far so good... but i never had anything blow a hole in the water pump. swrbansheeboy Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 while it was running i hit the throttle a couple times and wouldnt you know it the flywheel came loose and the bolt on the waterpump side blew a hole in my side cover has this ever happend or has anny one herd of this b-4 be more specific, did the nut on the drive gear come off and blow a hole in your side case or did the nut stay on and the crank shifted and blew the hole in the case? if it was the nut i would have to ask who torqued it and the flywheel nut down and was it done right? if the crank shifted in the cases you have a huge problem, the crank bearings have tab's and peen mark's that have to be aligned into relief's in the cases that keep them lined up and keep them from spinning in the cases as well as grooves so the bearing's cant walk side to side. i've been around a couple cranks with realy bad bearings that vibrated pretty good and never seen one that loosened the flywheel and drive gear nut's off the crank...actualy i did a motor that had a rod broken in half and everything was intact so it's kinda weird that your backing off the nut's on the crank.... BenBB Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 I agree with swrbansheeboy, more details, like crank bearings put in right? Quote
banshee(911) Posted May 31, 2007 Author Report Posted May 31, 2007 I agree with swrbansheeboy, more details, like crank bearings put in right? ok three weeks ago i purchased a vitos 4 mill stroker crank had my jugs bored to 80 over it has a mild trail port from dyno it has 5 degree advanced timing lightend flywheel 34 mm keihn,s i rode it about an hour and got behind some wheelers polarises they pulled out in front of me n stired up a lot of sand got it home the next day i heard a ticking noise so i took it apart n their was sand in my center bearings so i had my crank rebuilt with hot rod bearings had the clutch rebuilt also put it back together and i herd the noise in the side cover mind you theres about 5 min or so on new bearings i reved the motor twice and the flywheel and the nut to the gear to the waterpump came of putting huge hole in my clutch cover recently purchased a new cover waiting for cover now pockets getting low on funds what to do????
